just examine how the joint tightens. some have the rod going onto the ball itself, this is bad as the rod digs in. if the rod is to the side, and so it clamps the whole thing down, its not as bad. so if yorue lucky, you shouldnt have problems any time soon. also, dpending on the quality of the ball, it wont happen for a while (obviously the top line stuff uses a better compund)
