I started a poll that will maybe help with the backrest/no backrest decision. Once you have that decision made you can narrow down your choices a bit.

The poll is HERE

Oh, and for what it is worth I was incorrect in saying I have a BASIX throne in my earlier message. My throne is actually a DIXON. My mistake, sorry. I have corrected the original message.

Did any one see In a Modern drummer maybe last year or umm idk

this great throne/rack - it was amazing, i've had a look for it on the net with no luck

its was great - you were fully reclining, lying back in totally comfort - you could sleep! - and ALL the drums were also mounted on this huge throne but positioning so well - they were all right at your finger tips!

anyone remember this? or have i had WAY to much paint today?

I thought that was just called 'the frame', but when I did a web search I didn't get any results. Some top drummers were endorsing it though, but it seems to have died out.

yes, Tony Royster Jr actually endorses/ endorsed the Drum Frame. there was a thread about it on Pearl a while back, if someone wants to have a look. i think the title was something like "Double Bass kits on Drum Frame" but i cant remember for sure.

The drumnframe put huge ammounts of stress on your bass drum and it felt like you were about to lift off.

yeah, I dont like the frame for that reason, the bass drum cannot be "Virgin" and has lots of stress. not good for big bass drums.

Thrones... most important part of the kit. Spend the bucks and get yourself a good one. Pros are less chance of back pain and better balance when sitting to get the legs working. Also takes away mind games with " the seats going to collapse any minute now" .
I use a Heavy Duty Tama motorcycle seat one.

I agree mouse. the second most importanat thing in a drumkit, is the throne. the most important is yourself. Seriously, a good throne can improve your drumming audibly.

A personal fear of mine when playing on a crappy throne is that the bar that supports it is going to break through the seat and... paaaaain

So yeah, good thrones all the way.

I have seen a center pole go through the seat of a throne with the drummer sitting on it. Lucky he wasnt injured.

I other news, they had a chiro at the drum fest today, doing tests on thrones to see which was best for your back. You can guess which one he chose.
