Sounds like a very good idea.

Jonas, if your pedal is solid, and your bass attached firmly to that, you shouldnt have problems. I would be hesitant to stick anything on my bass. get better spurs though, I would recommend that.

For those who have problems with sliding pedals -

Yesterday, we had our gig at Thistle Hall, and I was providing the kit. I went there and set it up, and thought of what someone had said about gaffering the pedals. So I did that. One piece of tape across the hit-hat and slave bd pedal heel rest things, and then a couple through, across the footboard and then one taping the back down. It was a carpet floor and the spikes were out (but that has never stopped them moving as much as they do before.) Anyways, 4 bands later (sound check and set, 30-40 mins each,) the pedals were still rock solid! All drummers were reasonably heavy players and the hithat stand was even swaying a bit as I tapped it, but no pedal movement whatsoever.

Thanks to whoever suggested the gaffer tape idea! It never occured to me before, but I now deffinately recommend it.

my slave pedal has not moved and inch since i got rid of the wee springs that sit in there and screwed the spikes right down

What's the material underneath the pedal?

Oh and Jez, maybe you could try the PS-85 Pedal Stabiliser which helps prevent the secondary pedal from slipping. It's got spike/rubber convertible tips and attaches to the hoop clamp of the secondary pedal.

Obviously you don't have issues with the old carpet moving on top of the new carpet then. Cos you wouldn't exactly want to drill the spikes right down into the new carpet (even if they were long enough)

My secondary pedal seems to be staying put so far with no spiking - I'm using a car floor mat underneath it.

i just have my kit set up on the old carpet/drum mat so i have a place to put my old carpet/drum mat, but the plus side is it is alot grippier then the stuff that is down in my room, and the old carpet/drum mat has rubber backing also

ok, i have the best idea ever. put a bass drum on it. seriously here, me and a mate just put our kits together, but as we have diff basses, with diff heads, and diff pedals, we are just using my Elim. so, we are only playing one bass, but the other bass has the slave pedal on it. it will never move. also looks cooler. theres the most ridiculous war to do it, but it sure works.

hmm, but then you would require a second bass drum, which a cheap one costs (new price of course) minimum $500, where as duct tape costs about $8 a roll and well, you can score second hand carpet for delicious

Re: Elimininators you can buy a cilantro thing that clamps on to the left pedal in the jaws where you would otherwise but the BD hoop. It has big spikes on it to keep the left pedal from sliding.
